Have you heard about MyGameBuilder.com?

It’s a free website that let’s anyone design games without needing to know coding. You can start from scratch and use your creativity to build all sorts of games. Did I mention it was free?!!

I’ll be including a short video, so you can get a general idea of how it’s works. Not only can you build games, you can also enter them into competitions and win prizes. It’s legit, my son won a free video game, and it was delivered as promised!

Guitar Hero for the Wii

My son just picked up Guitar Hero for the Wii last night. He’s a video game fan, and can pick up a game and master it pretty quickly. It doesn’t matter what kind of game it is. It’s just been his thing since he was younger.

Imagine my surprise when he came out last night, and went, my fingers are sore, and it’s pretty hard! Ha Ha!

Good to know it will be a challenge for him. It drives me nuts that he’ll buy a game, and beat it that weekend. It lacks challenge once you beat a game. This one will keep him busy for awhile! I’m always happy when a game offers some challenge.

I liked when he got Zelda: Twilight Princess too, because it’s a game that makes you think. THOSE are th games I prefer him to play over the “shooters”.

King of Kong Scored With Us

We watched “King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters” on Friday night. The movie is based on the machine Donkey Kong, and a couple of men who are aiming to be the World Champion. One all ready is, Billy Mitchell, and one (Steve W) is contending to take that title away. It’s shot documentary style, and is quite fascinating to watch.

The characters are real people, not made up folks. Sometimes real life is more interesting than anything you can write. You watch as it’s “Man vs. Man” as Billy and Steve try to outdo the other. It’s also “Man vs. Machine” as these guys go against a simple machine, that can drive you crazy when you play it.

My son has an old arcade Donkey Kong machine signed by Billy Mitchell. He got it for Christmas. You can read that story by clicking on the link above. With that piece of information, you can imagine how excited my son was to watch this movie. He knows the ins-and-outs of “Twin Galaxies” (an official score keeping company), and the frustration of trying to slowly improve his game.

There’s an arcade up in New Hampshire called “Fun Spot” which is the place to be, to beat a record. We got to watch as Steve got a kill screen at the end of the game. His obsession took him from Washington to this New Hampshire arcade hot spot to beat the game and set a world record. I can’t tell you all the details, because I don’t want to ruin the movie for you. Let’s just say Billy has something up his sleeve. On a side note: Doris was adorable.

Coincidentally, I had all ready told my son this summer, probably in August, I’d take him up to Fun Spot so he could play at that arcade. Rich over at RichieKnucklez.com had told us about it. It’s a 6 hour drive, so I’m not in a hurry to get up there right now! As for Hollywood, Florida, the home of Billy Mitchell and the rest of the story in “King of Kong”, I’ll be in Florida in July, and my son wants to visit Billy’s restaurant. We’ll see how far of a drive it is from Orlando. Either way, my son was loving the movie.

When you get to the end of the movie, watch the credits.

…and by the way, my son pointed out that the credits are all ready outdated, because Twin Galaxies has posted Billy’s latest score, which was done by referee!

I’m not sure what to say about this movie, because it’s not like anything you’ve seen before! Just go watch it, rent it, buy it and enjoy it.

Who watched? Myself (40), Husband (42), Son (13)
Total Scores? All three of us gave it a big thumbs up!

Donkey Who?

Remember Donkey Kong? My son got a cool Christmas present from his Dad this year. His father gave him an old classic Donkey Kong arcade game. Yes, the big old kind we used to play as kids! What’s really cool is that it’s been signed by the world champion Billy Mitchell, and it’s appeared on “The Today Show”, so he’s all kinds of excited over his new game.

He picked this out, but his dad threw him off by saying somebody from NY all ready bought the game. It worked, because my son was over the moon excited when he got it. He’s big into video games and has almost all the systems. He wants to design games when he’s older. He also has an admiration and enjoyment for the classic style games.

In November, I took him to Disney Quest which was cool for him, since it’s 5 floors of arcades and games in Walt Disney World. I’m so happy for him, because I know how much he wanted this one particular machine.

MTV Gets In the Game

MTV Networks Co. plans to invest well over US$500-million in video games

Source

Targeting their core audience, this two year investment hopes to reach their audience in all aspects of entertainment.

Do you remember when MTV used to be about videos? We were just talking about this yesterday, as my sister and I sat around talking, and “The Tube” (digital channel 250 around here) was playing in the background. Imagine that, being able to watch music videos, a lost art….

Poker Articles and Information

I live in New Jersey, about 3 hours from Atlantic City. I was just there recently, and was glad to see all the work they’re doing around the town. They’re finally putting some of the money they’ve been earning into the city, which was promised years ago. It looks nice though, and with lots of outlets, and a nice convention center, it’s added a much needed boost to their downtown area outside of the casinos.

I mostly play slots, and as I walked by the poker tables, I was thinking of maybe sitting in on a few hands. I play video poker down there, but I’ve never sat at the tables yet. I get a little intimidated, even though I’ve been playing cards since I was young. I grew up in a card playing family, and a lot of different games found their way to our tables.

I came across a site that talks all about the rules of poker, poker strategies, and even gives you information on hand rankings, along with reviews on sites like Fulltilt Poker and more. They have all different topics, and a lot of valuable info. I’m going to bookmark the site and slowly start learning more, so next time I hit the casino, I won’t feel so intimidated. Honestly, when I was growing up, I learned a few basic types of poker- five card stud and seven card stud and draw. Now there are so many different varieties, I can find the style that suits me the best and choose that before sitting down. Texas Hold ‘em is big, since you always see it on television, but games like Caribbean poker, Tahoe and Pineapple styles? I’d be lost!

At Mac Poker online, I love that I can take my time and read the different tutorials and information. This site is all things poker, and all things learning, which I love. You can even check out a list of articles, as well as find accessories and Poker Bonus codes. The article about online poker legalities was of great interest to me. Another article that caught my attention was “Knowing When to Stop Playing Poker”. Take a few minutes and check out the site at MacPokerOnline.com, where you’ll find sorts of poker related information. This post has been brought to you by MacPokerOnline.com.

Comparing Poker Rooms

poker.gif

If you’re a poker fan, there’s a site called WhichPoker.com that you’ll want to check out. They are a guide for online poker rooms, as well as offering statistics. If you go to their site, you’ll see stats from Full Tilt Poker, VC Poker, Party Poker, Poker Stars and more. They keep you updated on all the latest information. They also tell you when things start like the next tournament, what the stakes are and give you direct download access to the sites. Party Poker is the most popular site, and when you’re at WhichPoker.com, you can see all their information, and then compare it to other sites. I love that all the information is all together like that, so you can easily compare what site is best for you.

If it’s a review you’re looking for, you’ll get reviews of sites like Poker Stars, with quick graphs to let you eyeball what you want to know.  Scroll down a little, and you’ll get player numbers, what games are being played and other valuable information. These are solid reviews that will help you decide which room you’ll want to play in. Maybe you’d prefer Pacific Poker, which scored a 10 out of 10 on their special tournaments and a 9 out of 10 on multiple categories.  Maybe it’s reliability, and knowing a room has been around for awhile that makes you feel more comfortable. If that’s the case, you’ll want to read the review on Paradise Poker. That’s the thing about WhichPoker.com, with solid reviews, you can make better decisions about what poker rooms you’d enjoy playing at. Check out WhichPoker.com today for all your poker room reviews. A Wii Whoops

Over at Wii Have a Problem you can read about all the damage people are causing by using the Wii. Straps were breaking, people were letting go of their Wii controllers letting them fly across the room. In the linked story, it’s of a person playing Zelda and breaking a chair! How did it happen? Follow the link and read the story. They have pictures of broken televisions, computer screens and more. My son wants the Wii…I’m wondering if “I’ll have a problem” if he gets it!
