McDonald’s and You
I was watching a special on the McDonald’s corporation last night. It was one of those MSNBC or CNBC type shows. I’m not sure which channel it was exactly. One of the things I found interesting is that McDonald’s seems to take the blame when it comes to our society being overweight and having problems.
I found it odd, that people are so easy to shift the blame. I’m the one who went in and ordered a Big Mac. Nobody twisted my arm. I can’t blame McDonald’s for being overweight. Now that I’m watching what I eat, I went in last week with my son and ordered a salad with water. They have the options, it’s up to me to open my mouth and order the healthier choice. Heck, I can drive right past the restaurant and eat somewhere else.
I’m really tired of everyone pointing fingers, because they don’t want to take the blame themselves. It’s our responsibility to know what we put in our mouths. People are blind to how many calories a Big Mac is? Come on, don’t play stupid, you know that’s not health food. It was an interesting special, but I really got tired of the reporter trying to shift blame, don’t you feel guilty for offering fattening choices? Do you see them going into Ben and Jerry’s asking the same thing?
It comes down to people making choices. We choose to go there, we choose what we order. Stop shifting the blame.
