Shrek 3 Review, No Spoilers
Shrek is a character I’ve grown to love. I was excited about the release of the third episode, but feared it may run out of laughs as it is the third sequel. I quite happily found myself laughing all the way through the third Shrek movie, though I did find myself comparing it to the first two when I left the theater. While the story was well told, some of the humor seemed to lack the freshness it once held.
Mixing a story line of baby talk, a few mishaps, and a couple of new characters, Arty and Merlin, the story revolved more around the relationship between Shrek and the new character Arty, voiced by Justin Timberlake. The women in the story had their own storyline going, as Shrek and his pals went on a journey both physical and of discovery.
Donkey and Puss brought the humor and fun factor as usual. I don’t have any complaints about the movie, it was a good showing, but somehow, I didn’t leave as impressed as before.
The question is, will they know when to stop, or will they keep cranking out more Shrek goodness until box office ticket sales say it isn’t doing justice. I’m sure another one is in the works, and there’s talk of a Broadway production as well. Some green goodness is a good thing, but too much gets lost in trying to get the last laugh.
