American Idol Inspires
American Idol Gives Back is all about inspiration and raising money for the hungry in both the United States and Africa. Every time you vote, 10cents will be donated to the cause. The contestants chose songs that inspire them. With six contestants left in the raise, only 5 will be coming back. Here’s how it played out tonight…
Chris sang “Change the World” and gave his best performance to date. It was a great song choice for him.
Melinda sang “There Will Come a Day”, and gave a powerful performance that gave me chills. Well done, as always.
Blake sang “Imagine” and let the song speak for itself. It’s not that he wasn’t good enough with the song, it’s just that against tonight’s competition, he paled in comparison in my eyes.
Lakisha sang “I Believe” which is a Fantasia song. She showed us her powerful vocals with this song, and gave a strong performance, though the judges felt it was too much of a song for her to try to redo. I didn’t agree, I thought it was fabulous.
Phil sang “The Change”. Nice vocals, but at times felt “over the top” to me. I do think he continually improves.
Jordin closed the show with “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, and while the judges raved on how incredible that way, in the beginning, it felt almost off key or pitchy in one or two spots to me. The middle and end were so incredibly powerful and strong, it made up for the slight pitch problems in the beginning.
Bottom two this week in my eyes? Phil and Blake
