An Inconvenient Truth- Conveniently in the Living Room

“The funny thing about the Oscars is, they’re very intimate — people watch them in their living rooms,” Pope said in a telephone interview. “Global warming has seemed abstract, distant, something ‘for people who know more than I do.’

“I think what (the Oscar victory) really does is it puts this issue into people’s living rooms,” he said. “While the climatology is really complicated, they’re going to see that the solutions are pretty common-sense, and people will talk about them and get excited.”

With two Oscar wins, Al Gore’s “An Incovenient Truth” will get another round of people paying attention. How do you feel the extra publicity will change things? Did you see it before the Oscars? Will you watch it now that it’s won two Oscars? In a story on Yahoo!, there is discussion on how something that seemed out of reach, might not seem so out of reach anymore.

I plan on watching this movie, and have wanted to see it, but kept putting it off. I think somethings are better to understand, and maybe seeing common sense brought to MY living room, it may put it more in perspective for me. I’m one of those people who thought it was for “people who know more than me”, but I may be wrong on that note. I’m glad I came across this article, not because of the Oscar nods, but for seeing that it’s an accessible movie with information that even I will be able to understand.

I saw it before the Oscars and feel that Al Gore presented himself very well and deserves the Oscar. Great website by the way.
