America Idol, 10 Guys Standing
With a 90 minute show, the men brought their game tonight. What a turn around from last week’s dismal performances by the guys. We saw personality, vocal range and charisma.
Sundance smoked it out with his closing number which showed a fun, strong number. The Sundance we saw during auditions is back!
Nick did a version of “Fever” that I thought needed to be about a key or two lower. You can’t help but notice his nice tone, and he’s a throwback to the days of Frank and Dean.
Chris gave a riveting performance of “Trouble” dedicated to his wife. He was one of our favorite performances tonight. We think he shines, but may need a little help in the image department.
Blake once again showed his strength and originality, and I think he’ll easily move on to the next levels. He’s a natural, and will continue to shine.
Sonjaya came off a little bland for me tonight. He reminded me of something you’d see in a high school musical. Randy nailed it with that comment, because it’s exactly what we were thinking as well at our house. I usually agree with Simon’s comments, but Randy laid it out this time.
Brandon’s version of “Time After Time” just may be the thing that gets him voted off on Thursday. While he was feeling it, I wasn’t. I thought it lacked range and style. Very boring performance that may send him packing.
Jared did a nice version of “Let’s Get it On”. It was hot in some places, and had a few tiny pitch problems in others. I think it’s enough to keep him in it at this point in time.
Phil opened the show with a nice rendition of his song, while it was well done, it lacked spark. I think he’s doing well, but I also think others are shining too brightly for him to be noticed.
Chris Richardson did a good job, but lost the song a bit. It felt as though the incredibly fast lyrics were too big for him at some points. I think he’ll continue to shine, and he overall did a nice job on his version of Jason’s song.
AJ showed us another side of himself and I thought did a fabulous job. I think it will be strong enough to keep him in the next round.
My choice for going home: Brandon for sure- Sanjaya as a possibility, though he proved popular last week.
