American Idol, Memphis Auditions
The auditions for American Idol continued in Memphis, Tennessee tonight. Here’s a quick run down…
- Tamika, 16 years old sounded very nasal and was hard to understand…Can you translate?
- Chris did a version of Superstition by Stevie Wonder that had us going, Huh? What was that?
- Alexis sang so fast, we couldn’t keep up with what she was saying
- Sundance, whose parents were hippies he states…said his father picked his name. His father was a famous singer, and this guy who is newly married with a baby on the way was fabulous. Watch for this rising star out of Porter, Texas!
- Travis was feeling emotional and diong a fanatical type of poetry thing, but we weren’t feeling his emotion and were more than happy when he exited stage right.
- Danielle did a nice job with an Aretha song and found her way in, though I don’t expect to see her in the finals.
- Topher came in with a crush on Paula and looking for new beginnings, but ended up leaving after his sad version of Footloose sent him packing.
- Janita was feeling “very sexy”, but her version of “Disco Inferno” was anything but sexy!
- Sean was looking unique with his long hair and long beard, and the question seemed to be could he sing? Yes he can, and he proved it with a version of a Johnny Cash song.
- The professional background singer Melinda did a Stevie song and blew it out of the water. This girl has a great voice and showed her stuff, however meekly and nervous she felt! Another one to watch out for…
- Robert sang “Burling Love” but I wasn’t loving it.
- Phil has a newly born daughter and a new ticket to Hollywood.
Next show, they’ll be seeing what New York has to offer…for those of you wondering where that “New York” stadium is that they did the auditions in? It’s in East Rutherford, New Jersey….hmmmm, wonder why they are calling it New York?
